The Valley of Flowers National Park is located in Uttarakhand, India. It was established as a national park in 1982. . It covers an area of about 40 km. A drive of ~270km from Haridwar to Govindghat of ~9hrs, depending on traffic and road conditions. In other words, if you are staying at a hotel in Haridwar, it’s best to leave early in the morning. If you’re coming from a distant place like New Delhi, then it’s best to go for an over-night stay at Haridwar which has full facilities such as good hotels/accommodation options and food supplies. The most popular months for sightseeing at Valley of flowers is August-September, as it has good weather, greater chance of seeing more blooming flowers and early morning walks are possible before sunrise. You’ll also see lots of colourful rhododendrons and other flora while strolling around at lower altitude. Winters are ideal for seeing snow (as well as views from high altitude). Avoid spring (March-April) – especially in years with heavy snowfall during winter – as trails may still be blocked by snow. May-June is also a good time but there can be heavy rainfalls in June while late May might not be that warm enough for outdoor activities. High altitude increases chances of catching cold or influenza so you must carry medicines along with you always.
