Overview
Kareri Lake is a shallow water lake, south of the Dhauladhar range and situated in North West of Dharamshala in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. Kareri lake trek starts from Kareri Village and first half of the trek since we reach in Rioti, it filled with lots of greenary and pine forest specially chir and chilgoza pines. Trek gives you pathway of rocky and stairs kind of trail with narrow pass, companion of jungle plants, running streams, and big boulders. In the latter half of the trail, it goes with full of big rocks, running streams alongside and large grassland near Kareri Lake. Lake freezes during winter season with full of snow around. Kareri Lake is the place where you would feel fresh breeze of joy and happiness with scenic view. Though kareri lake is not located at high altitude but the trek is that jar of happiness and enrichment of satisfactory vibes. This trek is covered under easy to moderate category. Easy in terms of low altitude while moderate due to its rocky trails, crossover to running streams and steep climbing in between. Approx. 12km of one side trail from Kareri Village to Kareri Lake can be covered in one day subject to fitness of the trekker maintained.
