Overview

Where is Indrahar Pass The Indrahar Pass is located in the middle of Kangra and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh, India. The altitude of this trekis 14,160 ft and 4,340 m. The highest peak in the region is Dhauladhar and it is a part of the Himalayan range. The highest point on the pass is located at an altitude of 16,500 feet. The Indrahar Pass can be found at an altitude of 14,000 feet above sea level and it's a part of the Himalayas mountain range. The height of the mountains around Indrahar Pass ranges from 11,600-16,500 feet and this pass belongs to the Himalayas mountain range.

How to Reach Mcleodganj by Air: Gaggal Airport is the nearest airport to Mcleodganj. There are very limited flights for Mcleodganj. Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, is the nearest and major airport to Mcleodganj. One can board a flight till Delhi and then travel to Mcleodganj by bus or car.

Mcleodganj by Road: There are regular services of state government and private buses to Mcleodganj with various cities of north India like Delhi, Chandigarh, Dharamshala etc. You can book the bus through online app or offline at their offices.

Mcleodganj by Rail: Only Pathankot Railway Station located is available around 90 km away as nearest railway station to Mcleodganj. After reach there, you can take taxi or busto reach Mcleodganj.

Temprature and Weather

In  summer & spring seasons temperature is here usually 10 to 15 degrees celsius. Therefore, you will have mild cold in spring and enjoyable weather during the summers. Meadows and boulders rocks can see here in summers with the whole green trail. Temperature drops below 0 degrees and the weather becomes too cold. The whole landscape covers in glowy white snow and temperature drops in night till -6 degree Celcius.

Summer: 20 to 25 degree celcius in a day and 5 to 10 degree celcius in a night

Winter: 7 to 12  degree celcius in a day and -1 to -10 degree celcius in a night

Monsoon is very risky for this trek due to heavy rainfall.

Best Time To Visit The best time for Indrahar Pass trek is from April to December, as this is the start of the winter season in Himachal Pradesh. It's also possible for you to visit in February, which is the end of winter. However, it does depend on your physical fitness and also on whether or not it's raining at that particular time. There are several points between Mcleodganj and Indrahar Pass such as Triund, Vishnu Mandir (Waterfall), Kufri (Hill Station) etc. The trek is around 25 km long with an elevation gain of 3000 meters. So one thing is for sure- the difficulty will only keep increasing with every passing kilometer!

The best time of the year to trek Indrahar Pass is from April to June in Summer and September to November when it's not too hot or cold. There are many different routes you can take on your hike - some are shorter than others but all have fantastic views. For example, if you're looking for a shorter trek, try the route starting at Laka Glacier which will take you only 5-6 hours.

Indrahar Pass vs Kuari Pass You will be surprised to know that Indrahar pass and Kuari pass are the two most popular trekking routes in the Himachal Pradesh region. Which one is better? To answer this question, let's take a look at their height, location, and other features. In terms of altitude, Indrahar pass is lower than Kuari Pass. It has an elevation of 2,800 m (14,160 ft) above sea level whereas Kuari Pass has an elevation of 3,900 m (12,795 ft). The best time for indrahar pass trek is during winters whereas for kuari pass it's summer months. We recommend you go for the trek if you have more than 5-6 days at your disposal because it takes around 4-5 days to complete. If you're short on time, then don't worry; both these treks can be completed in a day as well.

DAY 1 - Mcleodganj to Laka Glacier (Distance: 10 km, Duration: 10-11 Hrs, Altitude: 11646 ft)
We will start our trek in the morning from Mcleodganj to Laka Glacier through Triund. Trail of this trek is mostly ascent, steep in some parts which makes trekking adventurous here. There are also running streams which need to cross in pathway, making this trek little bit of difficult but with the support of guides, it becomes somewhat easy. It has multiple water sources during the trek with small waterfalls and several small springs to refill bottle, also number of shacks at regular intervals for rest and food source (Maggie/Parathas/Omlett/Soft drinks and packaged snacks). We will reach at our camp site in Laka Glacier in the evening and have our evening tea, dinner, bonfire and lots of masti here. Stay overnight in the camps (dome camps).
DAY 2 Trek from Laka Glacier to Indrahar Pass to Laka Glacier (Distance: 8 km, Duration: 6-7 Hrs, Altitude: 14160  ft)
Wake up early in the morning with an amazing view of Dhauladhar range. After having breakfast, we will start our trekking to Indrahar Pass, a tail totally covered with snow mostly in winters, and trek back to Laka Glacier camp site in the evening.
DAY 3 Trek back from Laka Glacier to Mcleodganj (Distance: 4 km, Duration: 3-4 Hrs, Altitude: 7293 ft)
After having breakfast in the morning, we will trek back to Mcleodganj. Here our trek finishes with lots of memories.

  • Cancellation on or within 15 days (0 days to 14 days) of departure – 100% charge as a cancellation fees
  • Cancellation on or before 15 days of departure – 50% charge as a cancellation fees
  • In case of unforeseen weather conditions, natural disasters or government restrictions, certain activities/whole trek may be cancelled and in such cases the operator will try his best to provide an alternate feasible activity. However, no refund will be provided for the same.
  • No refund will be processed in case of trek cancelled by trekker due to personal/medical emergency
  • If package includes any product offering (e.g. Jacket or Bag), that will not be returned and price of the product will not be refunded. For example, if booking amount collected Rs. 2000 and the package includes jacket offer worth Rs.1500 then in case of cancellation, Jacket will not be returned and only Rs.500 (2000-1500) will be refunded subject to fulfill of other cancellation policy conditions.

Refund Policy

  • Any refund applicable will be processed within 14 business days.

Confirmation Policy

  • Upon booking, the trekker will receive a confirmation voucher via email, within 48 hours (on working days).
  • In the exceptional cases of slots not being available, viable alternatives will be provided to the customer, in regards to the customer’s preference. In such cases, a new voucher would be sent via email, consisting of the new trek details.
  • Alternatively, the trekker may choose to cancel their booking before confirmation and a full refund will be processed.
