The Brahmatal Lake And Betal lake lies completely frozen in winter. It is a delight for shutterbugs. The entire trek is full of panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges and Garhwal snow-line. Some of the most well-known peaks that stand brilliantly across the sky and are visible on Brahmatal trek are Trishul, Nandaghunti, Chowkhamba, Nilkanth, Kamet, Hathi, and Ghoda peaks. The Brahmatal temperature in winter is pretty cold but suits trekking.In the daytime, temperature in brahmatal ranges between 0°C to 2°C. In the night, the temperatures fall to around -5°C to -10°C. Brahmatal trek temperatures vary depending on the altitude that you are at, during the trek. In camps at a lower altitude, the Brahmatal trek weather is pleasant at around 10°C. What is the Brahmatal Lake Trek?
Brahmatal Lake is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, The lake is 3718 m above sea level. There is a big camping ground near the lake. The lake has religious significance and needs to be respected according to local traditions. As per the locals, Brahmatal lake is where lord Brahma meditated according to the local people and mythology and another lake you will come across is Bekhaltal it is where Lord Brahma remains hidden. It is a winter trek which is famous for an alpine medium size lake at 3240 m/10630 ft. The trek starts from Lohajung and measures around 25 Km, to and fro. The lake remains frozen and often filled with snow during winters. The trek trail is very beautiful and exciting with the peaks among which Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Mrigthuni, Chaukhamba, Nilkantha, Hati Ghoda are notable. Most of the portion of this trail is full with thick forest cover of Rhododendrons. In summer and post monsoon alpine meadows on this area remains rich in green. Intermitted rains make the beautiful weather here. As a winter trek, Brahmatal becomes a India’s Popular trekking destination. According to the Indian Mythology, Goddess Parvati (Lord Shiva’s Wife) killed the demon Lohasur where the lohajung village is built, that’s why the village called Lohajung.
How is the weather in Brahmatal Lake?
The temperature during the daytime is around 0°C to 5°C. Late night/early morning temperatures at Lohajung, Bekal Tal and Brahma Tal can be around 0° to 2°C, 0°C to -2°C and -5°C to -10° C. In the tent the temperature will be 10°C (app.) warmer but still can be freezing.
What is the best time to visit Brahmatal Lake Trek?
The best season to explore Brahmatal is either winter: December to March or in the springs: April to June and in the autumn: October to November. In winters, weather normally remains clear and panoramic beauty of the surrounding is unmatched. Adequate amount of snow is another reason that this is getting popular in recent years.
Is Brahmatal Lake trek good in Summers?
During summer the weather at Brahmatal trek remains pleasant during the day but it gets colder at night and temperature will rise as you will climb higher. Night /early morning temperature can be from 10 degrees Celsius to 2 degrees Celsius.

How to reach Brahmatal Lake?
You can come through different modes of transport. Here we mentioned the details:-
By plane
The nearest airport to Brahmatal lake is Pantnagar domestic airport which is 32 km from Kathgodam. This airport is connected directly with Delhi by 4 round flights per week.
By train
The nearest station to Brahmatal lake is Kathgodam railway station. It has good connectivity to many places and these include Lucknow, Delhi, Dehradun and Howrah.
By bus
There is a motorable road all the way till Kathgodam (basecamp for this trek). You have to trek from Kathgodam to reach Brahmatal which is at 12 km distance. For reaching Lohajung by bus we have two options. First option is that we can start our journey from Delhi. Regular buses starts from 1 Swami Vivekanad Inter State bus terminal , popularly known as Anand Vihar ISBT Delhi, to Kathgodam/Rishikesh/Dehradun. Buses that go to Nainital stops at Haldwani which is a twin town of Kathgodham (8 hr journey). Usually, buses drop you at the Haldwani bus station. From there you have to come to Kathgodham Railway Station which is 4 km away. Tata Sumo or similar vehicles will pick up you from Kathgodham Railway Station. Second option is that you can start your bus journey from Rishikesh (yoga capital of India). You will get a direct bus from the Rishikesh early in the morning. The bus will depart from Rishikesh at sharp 5AM.
