It is believed that Guru Vashistha was one of the Sapta Rishis and is described in the Ramayana as the teacher of Lord Rama and his brothers. That is why the temple of Lord Ram and Guru Vashisht is famous in this village. The specialty of this village is the hot springs flowing here. According to the Puranas, Guru Vishwamitra had killed all the children of Guru Vashishtha in his enmity, after which he became depressed and settled on the banks of the river Vipasha. This Vipasha is called Beas river today and as Guru vashisht had been done meditation here so the village called Vashisth village. |
